I’m very proud to have been able to help the Meningitis Trust with this photo of young Bobby for their annual review. I met Bobby and family back in July just before they headed off to a football match. Bobby was extremely lucky, thanks to the actions of mum Lisa and the NHS he received help quickly. He’s now running around and playing football with his older brother as if nothing had happened and by all accounts a giant in his class.

If you think meningitis only affects babies and young children think again. “it can affect anyone, of any age, at any time; it can strike in minutes and kill within hours“. To read the full report and make yourself aware of meningitis and how to spot it jump to http://www.meningitis-trust.org/about-us/news/annual-review/ and follow the links.

I was inspired to help the trust after seeing Channel 4’s The Secret Millionaire, when property developer Matthew Newbury met the trusts Young Ambassador Alex Williams. Both were inspirational characters. I was offered the chance to photograph the trust at Downing Street but declined as it conflicted with a shoot I’d already agreed. With hindsight I wish I’d found another photographer to shoot the party for me and met Alex as sadly he passed away in August.
